HOW TO FIND THE BEST AFFILIATE PROGRAM TO JOIN
Do you know what happens after you’ve done your brainstorming and found a niche/product in demand but no affiliate program to promote it? You are back to square one. Go back to your drawing board.
Now that you have found a niche, established that there is a demand for it and have determined that the niche is not flooded with competitors. The next step in your business plan is to find a suitable affiliate program to promote that will provide an ideal solution to your niche market and you know that you can reasonably expect to get your share of the online cash flow.
Some of the best programs out there include:
Before we proceed, an important thing that you need to do is to understand the different monetization methods.
I've already described how an affiliate program works in my previous post. Click HERE to find out more. However, it is very important to note that different affiliate offers convert in different ways. Some of the most popular ways include the following:
Pay Per Sale (PPS):in this conversion method, affiliate share links to different product sales pages online and whenever a sale is made through your link, you get paid a commission. This is the most popular. Commissions could range from 40% - 70% depending on the product owner’s choice.
Pay Per Click (PPC): Similar to PPS. Affiliate shares links directly or through ads online and when people click on your ads, you get paid. It doesn’t matter if the visitors end up buying the product or not. Your duty is just to bring people to the webpage. This is also popular, though commissions are usually between $0.1 - $0.7 per click which is pretty good.
Pay Per Action (PPA): This offer pays you money when people click on your link and perform some set actions. When they do, you earn money. Oftentimes, people just need to enter their email address for you to make $0.20 to up to a dollar. It could also require them to register for a certain whatever, once they do you get paid too. Not too bad.
Please Note: Merchandise affiliate programs are affiliate programs that sell physical products. Amazon Associates fall into this category. Real estate agents too fall into this category. When people see ads on your website, you won't get paid when people click the ads. You only get paid a commission when your visitors actually buy products.
So There Are Many Affiliate Programs! Which One Do You Choose?
Ask questions first before you join an affiliate program. Do a little research about the choices of program that you intend to join. Get some answers because they will be the deciding point of what you will be achieving later on.
So get your paper and pen ready, let’s do some findings
Is the offer directly or closely related to your niche?
Look at a program’s offers, not necessarily the program itself. There are many programs that actually cater for many different niches. You have to look through their offers to see if there is something that tightly fits your niche. You can use the search bar integrated in the website to search for products related to your niche.
Will it cost you anything to join?
Most affiliate programs available today are absolutely free of charge. Programs like Clickbank, Warrior Plus, JVzoo are free programs to join with lots of quality products to promote. So why settle for those that charge you some money before joining. You can start by joining a free programs, then later enroll for paid programs such as Expertnaire.
How flexible is the program in terms of advertising?
Does the program require you to use their own materials? Or are they okay with you coming up with your own materials? Can you use incentives? Most programs allow affiliates to give incentives like bonuses to customers that buy certain products. This days, it is a very common practice.
How much does the program pay?
This mostly depends on the product you intend to promote. But normally, most affiliate programs offer between 40%- 70% commission. The proper way to analyze this, of course, is through comparison. When you compare different offer payouts to each other, you should have a fairly clear idea of whether an offer makes sense. This days, most programs offer a 50% commission per sale made.
When do they issue the commission checks?
Every program is different. Some issue their checks once a month, every quarter, etc. Select the one that is suited to your payment time choice. Many affiliate programs are setting a minimum earned commission amount that an affiliate must meet or exceed in order for their checks to be issued.
How many offers does the program have?
The more the program specializes in your niche, the more you should prioritize it. I'm not saying that you should not run offers from other programs, but since this particular program seems to specialize in your niche, you should spend more of your time promoting this program. Don’t be a Jack of all trades and a master of none.
How are referrals from an affiliate’s site tracked and for how long do they remain in the system? This is equally very important. You need to be confident in the program enough to track those people you refer from your site. This is the only way that you can get credit for a sale. The period of time that those people stay in the system is also important. This is because some visitors do not buy initially but may want to return later to make the purchase. Know if you will still get credit for the sale if it is done some months from a certain day.
Do they offer flexible landing pages?
Does the program allow you to come up with your own landing pages or do they have their own? If they have their own, are there many different versions? Be clear about how the sponsor is going to be converting your traffic.
LASTLY, Can the program be promoted using a wide range of conversion systems?
If the program allows you to use direct, mailing list, content, and other types of traffic conversion systems, you might want to pick such a program.
Programs like Clickbank allows you to get your unique links to promote products on the go, while programs like Warrior Plus and JVzoo requires you to apply for permission to promote an offer which is subject to the products owner’s approval. On approval, your unique link to promote the product will be given to you.
If you find a program that is very flexible, you might make more money with it than more rigid programs.
So do your homework, this is a very serious business as you can see. Take your time to build the foundation to avoid the terrible mistakes that some of us made when we started.
